Rename the Bluetooth device for a Bluetrum IC (in a .bin file)

How to Change the Bluetooth Name

The Bluetooth Name Tool allows you to change the Bluetooth device name directly inside a supported Bluetrum firmware .BIN file.

This is useful when you want to customize the name that appears when the device is discovered by a phone, computer, or other Bluetooth device.

1. Prepare Your Firmware

Before using the tool, prepare the Bluetrum firmware file that you want to modify.

The firmware must be in:

.BIN format

For example:

firmware.bin

It is recommended to keep a backup of the original firmware before making any changes.

2. Choose the Firmware File

On the Bluetooth Name page:

Step 1: Select the BIN File

Click Choose File and select the firmware .BIN file from your computer.

For example:

original-firmware.bin

Step 2: Enter the New Bluetooth Name

Enter the name you want the device to display when it is discovered by Bluetooth devices.

For example:

My Bluetooth Device

Choose a clear and recognizable name that will make it easy to identify your device.

Step 3: Click “Rename & Download”

After selecting the firmware and entering the new name, click:

Rename & Download

The tool will process the firmware and generate a new .BIN file with the updated Bluetooth name.

3. Download the Modified Firmware

After the process is completed successfully, the modified firmware will be available for download.

For example:

firmware-renamed.bin

Save the new file to your computer.

Your original firmware remains unchanged.

4. Bluetooth Name Limit

The Bluetooth name field has a maximum length supported by the firmware.

For the supported Bluetrum firmware structure, the name can contain up to 31 bytes.

Because the tool uses UTF-8 encoding, some characters may use more than one byte.

For the best compatibility, use a short name containing standard letters and numbers.

For example:

BT-Speaker
MyAudio
TQ-Audio
Bluetooth-01

5. What the Tool Changes

The tool only modifies the Bluetooth name information stored in the firmware.

Other firmware components are not intentionally modified.

This means you do not need to unpack and rebuild the entire firmware just to change the Bluetooth name.

The process is:

Original Firmware
       ↓
Change Bluetooth Name
       ↓
New Firmware BIN

6. Recommended Workflow

Before making any changes, keep the original firmware as a backup.

For example:

original-firmware.bin

Then create the modified version:

firmware-renamed.bin

This allows you to return to the original firmware if necessary.

7. Important Notes

Use a Supported Bluetrum Firmware

The tool is designed for supported Bluetrum firmware structures.

Not every .BIN file will contain a compatible Bluetooth name field.

Keep the Original Firmware

Always keep a backup of the original firmware before modifying it.

Use a Short Bluetooth Name

For the best compatibility, avoid unnecessarily long names or unusual characters.

A simple name such as:

My Speaker

is generally preferable to a very long name.

The Displayed Name May Depend on the Device

After changing the firmware, the new name may not immediately appear on a device that has previously connected to the Bluetooth device.

If necessary, remove or forget the old Bluetooth device entry from the phone or computer and scan for Bluetooth devices again.

8. Quick Usage

For experienced users, the process is simple:

Select the .BIN file → Enter the new Bluetooth name → Click Rename & Download → Download the modified firmware.

The resulting .BIN file contains the updated Bluetooth name.

Important

Always keep a backup of the original firmware.

Only modify firmware that you are authorized to modify, and make sure the firmware is compatible with the target device before using the modified file.
